Yesterday I read through most of the transcript of a George W. Bush interview. I noticed immediately that he didn't really answer the first question. After that, I started writing down short versions of the questions and answers, and I thought these might be useful to anyone who doesn't want to wade through the whole interview. I was mainly interested in the questions to do with Iraq, and I stopped when they got to the economy.

Q: Why were you reluctant to investigate intelligence failures?
A: Intelligence is an important product.

Q: Shouldn't we have the results before the election?
A: We don't want to rush this. It's not for me, it's for future presidents.

Q: Will you testify to the commission on intelligence failures?
A: Well, I'll talk to them...

Q: Will you testify before the commission on September 11?
A: We gave them info, but we're worried about secrets getting out.

Q: No, really, will you submit for questioning?
A: Maybe.

Q: Will we capture Osama before the election?
A: I don't know. Osama bad bad man, we work hard to get 'im.

Q: Do you know where he is?
A: No comment.

Q: Iraq War looked like it was under false pretenses.
A: I thought there were weapons there. Maybe they were destroyed.

Q: CIA said "maybe" but you said "no doubt." Whazzaaah?
A: There was no doubt in my mind.

Q: In what way?
A: He coulda! We were stuck by terrorists! Can't let it happen again. Saddam gassed his own people!

Q: Can you support preemptive war without iron clad evidence?
A: Iron clad evidence doesn't exist. It was the best we had.

Q: If you went to Congress and said he was a threat to Iraq but not to us, would they have let you go to war with him?
A: They had the same evidence I did, and they agreed with me. Warring was a good thing.

Q: You're the boy who cried wolf now.
A: We did the best we could. Saddam was bad!

Q: Other people are bad too. we don't go after them.
A: We're still using diplomacy in North Korea

Q: Are you surprised at the resistance in Iraq?
A: No. Freedom is good, and bad people want to stop it.
